Galerie Sanaa Utrecht NL

Omar Ba is a 33 years old artist born in Afrika and works and lives now in Switserland. His art is a mixture of African, I find also aboriginal art, and Swiss folk art. I like the bright colours on a black background cardboard. He draws little objects and patterns that fit together as a compleet image. Overall it seems to be very precise because of the way he places them. This painter is not yet well-known but I'll keep an eye on him.

Googleshop

Andreas Gursky is a giant of contemporary photography--his massive landscapes and architecture shots document a world overflowing with junk and commerce. Often over 10 feet on a side, they command prices in proportion to scale: His 99 Cent II is the most expensive single photograph ever sold, having fetched $3.3 million at auction in 2007. New, most of his prints command upwards of $600,000.
Florian Freier loves Gursky. He could never afford one. So he recreatedBahrain I, which depicts a racetrack and looks like an abstract painting, using only Photoshop and Google Earth: one of the master's most famous works,

As Freier writes, "As many young photographers, I always dreamt about flying around the world, visiting spectacular spots and places, just like Superstar Andreas Gursky does. So finally I decided to stop dreaming and just do It ... in Google Earth. So here is my personal remake of Andreas Gursky's megapicture."

San Francisco In Jell-O

This project consists of photographs and video, which depict various San Francisco landscapes. I make the landscapes by constructing scale models of the architectural elements which I use to make molds. I then cast the buildings in Jell-O. Similar to making a movie set, I add backdrops, which I often paint, and elements such as mountains or trees, and then I dramatically light the scenes from the back or underneath. The Jell-O sculptures quickly decay, leaving the photographs and video as the remains.

Confining landscapes Adrian Woods

Confining landscapes

As a child dreams of inventing new innovative technologies, building endless fields of robots and changing my surroundings as I please dominated my mind. Out of these childhood fantasies came a fascination for the influence that technology has on human nature. Our ability to change and confine wild nature and form it to a habitable surrounding affects how we live our lives. With still life photography i have the ability to shape and create worlds the way I want them. The perfect medium to combine my childhood dreams with my new fascinations. The following work is a good example of my photography within this theme. The series ‘Confining Landscapes’ shows five images of a vast nature and miniature humanity accompanied by one image showing how we confine that vastness.

Adrian Woods graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, The Netherlands with a focus on still life photography. He controls the canvas inside and outside the studio, and thrives on changing between these environments. For the past few years his artistic vision has been directed towards exploring the juxtaposition between the natural and the artificial. Driven by a childhood fascination for the natural world and a previous study ‘engineering, design and innovation’.
