Doepel Strijkers Architects creates an eerily organic feel in the new SPRMRKT STH shop.
Mannequins and textiles merge in an fluid way in Amsterdam’s SPRMRKT. The surface of skin, textiles and clothing become one, emphasizing the perfections and imperfections of the body. These flaws become a quality; a symbolical representation of the human body.
The fusion between textile and skin creates an unpleasant fixation, stimulating the viewer to think critically about perfection and clothing. Towards the back of the shop, the skin flattens, and is perforated for the presentation of clothing and accessories; large irregularities in the skin form spaces for changing rooms.
